Build the systems behind a more resilient grid.

Join a small team turning intelligent energy storage into real infrastructure for commercial and industrial businesses.

Real systems.
Real responsibility.

EQORE is building the future of commercial and industrial energy storage. We install and operate smart battery systems that reduce electricity costs without requiring customers to change their operations.

By streamlining every stage, from project design and installation to intelligent, fully autonomous operation, we turn energy storage into a zero-effort financial asset while strengthening grid resilience.

We are a small team led by three founders with backgrounds spanning Tesla, Apple, Capital One, project management, and construction. We work together at Greentown Labs in Somerville, where every person has a direct, outsized impact.

Open roles

We are hiring builders who can own consequential work from first principles through production and field performance.

Founding Energy Markets & Commercial Analytics Engineer

Somerville, Massachusetts | Full-time | On-site

Own the path from raw interval data, tariffs, and market rules to a system size and savings estimate we are willing to stand behind.

About the role

This is a builder-analyst role. You will research markets and revenue programs, but you will also ship production Python into our pricing and billing systems. Backend engineering is required; occasional small frontend improvements are helpful.

What you'll do

  • Own customer-site pricing from raw interval data through system sizing and a defensible savings estimate.
  • Maintain our tariff and program library across utilities and markets.
  • Model demand-charge savings, ICAP, demand response, arbitrage, and other revenue streams.
  • Compare modeled and realized performance at live sites, then improve our models and guarantee assumptions.
  • Evaluate expansion across ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, and eventually ERCOT.
  • Build market and event forecasts and help integrate them into QoreAI.
  • Ship tested backend code into the pricing tool and billing engine.

What you'll bring

  • Experience building storage, DER, electricity-market, or utility-rate models.
  • Strong Python and the ability to ship production code, not only notebooks.
  • The ability to translate tariffs and market rules into working models.
  • Sound commercial judgment and independence on ambiguous problems.
  • A desire to work full-time and in person with a small team.

Nice to have

ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, LP/MILP optimization, solar or storage development, settlement reconciliation, or lightweight frontend experience.

Why EQORE

Work with real systems across three states, see your models tested against real bills and program payments, and shape how EQORE enters new markets. Your work directly affects what we sell and what we can confidently guarantee.

Founding QoreControl & Fleet Reliability Engineer

Somerville, Massachusetts | Full-time | On-site | Occasional field travel

+

Own the software and operational systems that make batteries, power electronics, and QoreControl work together reliably across a growing fleet.

About the role

This is an edge, fleet, and field role. You will integrate hardware, improve observability and remote operation, and turn commissioning from founder-led work into a repeatable process.

What you'll do

  • Own QoreControl reliability across every deployed site.
  • Integrate batteries, inverters, meters, gateways, chargers, and other third-party hardware.
  • Build fleet-wide monitoring, alerting, diagnostics, and incident runbooks.
  • Move telemetry to scalable, durable infrastructure.
  • Build safe remote releases, staged rollouts, watchdogs, failover, and recovery.
  • Automate calibration, balancing, and recurring operating procedures.
  • Commission new systems and keep QoreAI dispatch safe when data, communications, or hardware fail.

What you'll bring

  • Experience operating a distributed fleet of physical devices in production.
  • Strong Python and Linux skills.
  • Practical experience with Modbus, SunSpec, CAN, or similar industrial protocols.
  • Strong debugging instincts across software, networking, and third-party hardware.
  • Experience with observability, staged deployments, and incident response.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and work full-time in person with a small team.

Nice to have

Batteries, inverters, EV charging, BMS, SCADA, industrial controls, time-series infrastructure, or energized-equipment commissioning.

Why EQORE

Inherit real systems, not a lab-only prototype. Your work will determine how quickly EQORE can bring sites online and how reliably they operate after commissioning.

Reinforcement Learning & Controls Engineer

Somerville, Massachusetts | Full-time | On-site

+

Own learning-based control work from problem formulation through evaluation and deployment, turning new approaches into safe, measurable production performance.

About the role

QoreAI decides when each system charges and discharges across demand charges, tariffs, and grid programs. Our control stack combines optimization, simulation, and learning-based methods to improve performance across a growing fleet. You will turn new control approaches into safe, measurable production performance.

You will also maintain strong optimization baselines and safe fallbacks so we can measure improvements and operate reliably.

What you'll do

  • Own QoreAI’s learning-based control and optimization architecture.
  • Design and evaluate control approaches for battery operation under uncertainty and real-world constraints.
  • Develop, train, tune, and evaluate learning-based control policies against strong heuristic and optimization baselines.
  • Build simulation, offline evaluation, backtesting, shadow-mode, and production-validation systems.
  • Integrate forecasts and market signals produced with the Energy Markets engineer into control inputs and evaluation environments.
  • Support ConnectedSolutions, Clean Peak Standard, ICAP, and other programs.
  • Generalize controllers across sites, tariffs, grid programs, operating regimes, and hardware.
  • Monitor live performance, diagnose regressions and distribution shift, and build safe fallbacks.

What you'll bring

  • Hands-on experience building reinforcement learning systems, ideally for continuous control, sequential decision-making, or closed-loop operation.
  • Strong Python and experience owning complete reinforcement learning training and evaluation pipelines.
  • Strong command of deep RL fundamentals, including policy optimization, exploration, credit assignment, stability, and sample efficiency.
  • Experience designing environments and rewards around noisy real-world data, partial observability, and operational constraints.
  • Understanding of safe deployment, failure modes, and rigorous evaluation in closed-loop systems.
  • A desire to work full-time and in person with a small team.

Nice to have

JAX or PyTorch, offline RL, model-based RL, imitation learning, energy, robotics, industrial control, mathematical optimization, or forecasting.

Why EQORE

Your controller will move power through real systems and its performance will appear on customer bills. As the fleet grows, every improvement compounds.

Full-Stack & Internal Tools Engineer

Somerville, Massachusetts | Full-time | On-site

+

Build the software and internal tools that help EQORE price projects, operate deployed energy systems, communicate performance, and move faster.

About the role

You will build the software that helps a small team price projects, operate systems, communicate performance, and move faster. The work spans QoreApp, our pricing workflow, prospecting tools, customer reporting, and internal automation.

This is a product-engineering role for someone who likes finding repetitive work and eliminating it. You will work directly with the people using what you build and own projects from an unclear problem through a dependable tool.

What you'll do

  • Build and improve QoreApp, the dashboard customers use to understand system performance and value.
  • Improve our pricing workflow, including data cleaning, run comparison, and quote generation.
  • Build prospect-screening tools and connect them to our CRM.
  • Automate customer reporting, savings verification, and utility-bill review.
  • Create tools for plan review, one-line diagrams, site evaluation, and commissioning.
  • Build interfaces around the work of our Energy Markets, Controls, and Fleet engineers.
  • Choose where AI is useful and add human verification where errors matter.

What you'll bring

  • Strong full-stack skills, including Python and a modern frontend framework.
  • A track record of independently shipping software from backend through interface.
  • Product judgment: you can turn an ambiguous complaint into the right tool.
  • Comfort with messy data and workflows that cross software and physical operations.
  • A bias toward simple systems, fast iteration, and measurable usefulness.
  • A desire to work full-time and in person with a small team in Somerville.

Nice to have

  • Energy or industrial data
  • Internal tools for small teams
  • Document automation
  • LLM workflows
  • Data visualization
  • Software tied to physical systems

Why EQORE

You will build software used by customers and by the people deploying real energy systems. The team is small enough that a good tool can change how the whole company operates, and the systems are already live enough that you can see whether your work helps.

Don't see your role?

We are always interested in people who care about energy, physical systems, and building technology that performs outside the lab.
